At LeaderStat, we recognize that you are more than your title.
That's why we've started a series called Recruiter Spotlight. This allows our travelers to get to know their recruiters on a more personal level by putting a face to a name.
We'll start with Nicole, Executive Recruiter in our Post-Acute Travelers division, where she focuses on placing Directors of Nursing, Nursing Home Administrators (NHAs), RN Supervisors, Unit Managers, Certified Dietary Managers and Social Workers and on short-term contracts in skilled nursing/memory care facilities.
Nicole has worked for LeaderStat since 2020. Keep reading to learn more!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm from Shelby, Ohio. However, I ended up staying in Columbus after I graduated from Ohio State University. I like going to sporting events. My favorite Ohio teams to watch are Cleveland Guardians, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Columbus Blue Jackets. I also enjoy hiking and taking my dog to dog-friendly places (including our office).
How long have you been a recruiter?
I have been a recruiter for seven years, with experience recruiting for acute care/hospital settings as well as long-term care, which includes Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Assisted Living, and Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC).
What's your favorite part about your job?
My favorite thing about recruiting is building relationships with candidates. I especially enjoy when they send me pictures of their travels.I love hearing about when an interim leader that I helped to place is a great match for the facility and really makes an impact. I work with so many amazing travelers. Sharing positive messages from our client buildings is another one of my favorite things about my job.
How was it to be a healthcare recruiter during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Being a healthcare recruiter during the pandemic was stressful but rewarding. It was impossible to help every single client and I wish we could have. Some of the feedback of gratitude from the clients we could help kept me going during the long hours and weekends spent recruiting during that time.
What advice would you give to interim healthcare leaders who are looking for a contract in long-term care?
Make sure to ask the contact person at the building everything that is important to you when looking for your next travel assignment. I don’t always have all of the information about the ins and outs of the building. I want to make sure everyone feels comfortable with the situation before accepting a contract. If you could have any super power, what would it be?
I wish I could teleport to any place that I wanted. I don’t travel well and hate driving when the roads are busy.
